Mac OS X 10.4, 10.3 and 10.2
- From the Apple menu, select System
Preferences.
- Click Network.
- Select either Internal Modem or External
Modem depending on which type is installed and select Configure.
- Follow the steps for your operating system:
- Mac OS X 10.4 and 10.3
- Click Configure.
- Select the TCP/IP tab. Under the Configure
IPV4 pull down menu, choose Using PPP.
- Mac OS X 10.2
- Select the TCP/IP tab
- In the Configure field, choose Using PPP.
- Leave the other fields blank.
- Select the PPP tab and complete the fields
as shown below:
- Service Provider: XpressAmerica
- Account Name: <enter your username@xpressamerica.net>
- Password: <enter your XpressAmerica password>
- Telephone Number: 15006990087
Save Password checkbox: By checking this option
your password will be stored in the system. It allows you
to bypass the step of always entering your password when dialing
in. If you are the only one using your computer at all times,
this step can save time. However, keep in mind that with a
stored password anyone using your computer can access your
information. Caution should always be exercised when selecting
this option.
- Click PPP Options. The PPP Options dialog
box appears.
- Verify that ONLY the following checkboxes
are selected:
- Disconnect when user logs out
- Redial if busy
- Send PPP echo packets
- Use TCP header compression
- Click OK.
- Select the Modem tab.
- Under the Modem pulldown menu, select
the model of modem that you are using.
- Verify that the following options are selected:
- Check Enable error correction and compression
in modem and Wait for dial tone before dialing.
- Select the type of phone line that you have:
Tone or Pulse.
- Select Sound: On if you want to
hear the modem dial and connection negotiated.
- Click Apply Now.
